Repairs

Here are just two examples of repair work carried out by me. Right is an early 20th century mandolin that had endured years strung with strings far too heavy and high-tension for its delicate build, as a result the instrument needed a neck reset. This involved removing part of the fingerboard and the neck from the neck pocket, adjusting the neck angle then gluing everything back together, fashioning a new nut and bridge to replace the existing ones which were too worn to be of any use then finally restringing with appropriate strings to bring the mandolin back to a playable condition.

Broken 12 string headstock

This Martin 12 string arrived from America with a broken headstock, probable because it had been dropped in transit and the tension of the stings caused the headstock to break with the shock of being dropped. This kind of break is very repairable. The repair is very strong and difficult to see once the cracked lacquer has been touched up.
